Hi all,

got my N800 this week and loving it and only cost 336 euro, screen is fantastic compared to the archos for browsing. Still havnt managed to rip a dvd that plays yet though any help on settings appreciated, been using handbrake.
Anyway I managed to install Canola and Mplayer easily enough, is it possible that someone could make a simple install for the SDHC kernal for all us noobs/non techies?

yeah but you have to install other programs and stuff and do all that command line techie text, I just want to be able to download it and press install
I think the N800 could be really a killer tool but it lacks so badly in Video support and software installation. With SDHC support for 16GB storage and more plus a top movie xvid player that wasnt fussy this machine would be number 1. Screw all the other crap, you programmers should concentrate on what the people want, I would pay for it as well as others Im sure would also.

People, including Serge, are working on improving mplayer for the benefit of us all; others have contributed documentation to help newbies do what they want.

All of which is very positive, communities always need new people, however:

Mid-term (June/July?) there will be further multi-media improvements.

And of course, Serge is busy beavering away on mplayer too - free of charge in his own spare time!
