There was a stupid bug in the backend script that disabled WEP even if it was enabled in the frontend.

If you have a custom kernel anyway (overclock, or whatever other reason) then there is no reason not to try out mobilehotspot.

I just don't want the unwary to get bitten since the application manager will flash the custom kernel automagically if you didn't have it already and custom kernels are definitely not supported by Nokia (and if it's OC kernel they will probably void your warranty as well...)

I have mobilehotspot and it works good, but sometimes it does hangs up, but is better than nothing. I am on Tmobile and the connection is good at 54 mbps. The wep key don't work as stated by others, but the best thing about it is that it's free. nice app to have.

I wanted to give this a try, but for some reason the Light version doesn't support N900. I don't see it in the list when to pick my device. Then again the Premium version does?

You don't have to pay to use Joikuspot, there is a way to download the free version using apt get in xterm, very easy to do just a power search on this forum will do it does not allow encryption however.

I have found that joikuspot is full of errors, use it enough and you will find them, I often it's down to luck, it will eventually work but can sometimes require a reset. Once working the connection stays up, I managed to watch an episode of mock the week on my laptop using my N900 no problem, after watching that I left it and the connection dropped as I have autodisconnect installed. Getting joikuspot to work again was a nightmare!

I tried mobilehotspot with power kernel, it worked, cool, but i had to recharge my device twice a day because of the power kernel, in general, without online hotspot
    !
I returned to the default kernel because of the power-saving issue.
Am waiting for a free solution for the default kernel.
