No way man, it gets worse than that. According to my extensive research that only I as king of the universe could possibly conduct and understand, 100% of usb failures are preceeded by someone owning a N900!

If that's not damning evidence of the root cause of the problem I don't know what is!!!!!!1111oneoneoneexclaimationmark

I cannot clarify anything here simply because you dont want to even try to listen or more to the point understand your very own words ! .
So, you didn't get "boot sector" and "root file system" mixed up? And am I wrong in assuming that you saved a copy of your root file system when you got your phone and now you're using that when you do your comparison after installing applications?

Installing things on the root file system is normal. That's how Linux installations typically look. The special tinkering done here with optification has been added since the Nokia people decided to make the root file system partition ridiculously small.

And I do think I understand my words very well. You, on the other hand, refuse to back up your arguments and continue to point at me and others saying "You just don't understand!". Then help us with the understanding by actually responding and explaining and stop this silly handwagging.

I've seen at least two; Felbutss and the guy with the reboot loop.

However, to be fair - I do believe most people that I've seen were successful at restoring PR1.1.1 if they wanted; or fixing their various 1.2 problems with reflashing 1.2.

I don't think I've seen a permanently damaged device yes. So yes, this particular update was not as bad as people are making it out to be.

However, the warnings are still valid. Just because someone can smoke for 30+ years and never get cancer does not negate the fact that smoking does cause cancer. Flashing firmware from a random website is typically a very bad idea.

There still could very well be malicious daemons or background processes embedded into this PR1.2 that none of you using it realize. Is it likely? Probably not. Is it possible? Certainly.

I'm half tempted to make a pre-pre-release PR1.3 firmware just for all of the "early adopters out there". I can promise you'll see your N900 do something new.....

(if it wasn't for the fact that'd actually be illegal, anyway.)

abill_uk, consider the probability that one person out flailing in the wind is better clued in than those observing his antics from shelter.

What do you think that probability is?

But you said no problems. Conversation not logging your conversations IS a problem. It needed a fix and therefore was a problem
