Always found media playlists on the N900 a huge huge pain. Actually most of the things on the N900 media player are a pain. I struggled with playlists for ages and think I even started a thread about it.

Anyway if you transfer playlists they generally won't work on the N900 because they generally use absolute paths. So if your playlist on Windows Media Player is Michael Jackson and is in something like c/music/michael jackson/ on your pc but on your N900 it is in something like sounds/michael jackson it will not work because the paths are not identical. Rubbish yes I agree. I think other devices do not have this problem because either they don't care that the paths are not identical or because you can use a transfer software rather than drag and drop and the transfer software presumably fixes this non-identical path issue.

Anyway after rambling on for so long is there a fix to this issue. Yes. Use Media Monkey to create the playlists. Media Monkey does not save playlists using absolute paths. Rather it will be ..../Michael Jackson/

So the playlist will work as long as there is a Michael Jackson folder on the N900 that contains the playlist. Does not matter that on PC it is stored in c/Music/Michael Jackson and there is no such folder on the N900. There just has to be a Michael Jackson folder on the N900 that has the playlist.
