I'm using my n900 since tuesday,
    "uname -a" prints:
    Linux Nokia-N900-51-1 2.6.28-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Thu Dec 17 09:40:52 EET 2009 armv71 unknown

When searching for the kernel-power-flasher in program manager I'll get infos about:
program: Linux kernel updater for an enhanced Maemo 5 kernel 2.6.28.10
    version: 2.6.28-maemo24

So which version has this flasher? Is it v24?
Should I install this flasher? Is it stable?
Should I upgrade the kernel somehow?

In general, I'm interested in using ISO9660.

    Thx in advance
You need to install "advanced linux kernel for power users" versions 29, 30, 31, 32, & 33 are unstable so you need to use v28 or v34,
and also install "advanced linux kernel for power users (settings)"
Check out this wiki for more info, http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power

There isn't a list of clashed apps. I don't know of an app that causes random reboots.

Random reboots every three days or every five minutes? It makes a difference.

What are your settings using something like kernel-config show ?

In the Overclocking thread you get answers from the best informed users.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

these are my setting, i get my reboots every few hours i would say...because as i said they are completely random, sometimes it reboots itself twice in 5mins, sometimes no reboots in a day....
yeah i know i should probably read the overlock thread, but tbh it is really hard to follow with the account of pages...

    rm /etc/default/kernel-power
    rm /etc/default/kernel-boot
    ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power
    ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/boot /etc/default/kernel-boot

    cheers

Well, you should at least look at three things.

    The Overclocking Wiki: wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking

Jakiman's overclocking guide: Linked to from the above.

And watch the last page or two of the overclocking thread, so you know what's going on lately.

The kernel-config show command shows things like what speeds you are set at. You become root and type kernel-config show.

hi, thanks for advising. i will definitely look at those pages.

i just typed in the command, lots of stuff came up and i dont really know what they are saying.

but i can be sure of one thing, that is my speed is set at 850mhz.

    thanks

Well, it sounds like the setting is somewhat like mine.

The only thing that causes random reboots that I can think of is

    SmartReflex. If those figures show

    SmartReflex VDD1=0, VDD2=0

as mine does, you are ok.

Some people turn that on and get random reboots.

Edit: You could try a lower limit than 850 and see how that affects you. Some N900s just don't go for overclocking much, but they are pretty rare.

    hi, thanks for your reply.

would you mind telling me how i can set the SmartReflex?\

because i cant see it when im type in the config command.

    thanks

You don't see SmartReflex when you type

    kernel-config show.

That's interesting, and strange. Can you check once more, and make sure you're seeing the whole page? In fact, it would be nice if you'd post what you DO see here, if you can.

If you install the program cpufreqUI (I think it's in extras-devel) it gives you an easy way to change several important settings, such as SmartReflex. I doubt that you have SmartReflex turned on, because I have the feeling you don't know how to do that.
