I must admit it's a bit of hit and miss for me with the icons.. I can't say I'm confident as to what they indicate, so I hit one and cross fingers (e.g. "did I send the message or discard it?")
I was wondering about that too... how does one do on the nokia to see tooltips? usually they appear when the mouse stays over an element for half a second, on a desktop. On Nokias, though, you're kind of forced to click, so, there are no visible tooltips?
Anyway, given that toolbar: http://jl.biord.free.fr/images/clawsmail6.png , from left to right it is:
Go to folders
Get mail
Send queued mails
Compose mail
Open mail <== the one you want

If you click on a empty location then, while leaving clicked, move the stylus on a button, a tooltip will appear. That work because the mouse cursor is hidden but exists anyway.
That took a bit of fiddling on my part but now I got it.. so, the method is to click near, but non on, the icon, then hold and move to the icon, and release. Tooltip appears! Thanks again.

A new package 2.9.1-1 (based on the 2.9.1cvs18) is available on http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo/. This release fixe many bugs related with some concerning Maemo tablets.
Without Ctrl key, the tablet needs a way to multi-select items. For this, a toggle button is now present to the summary view to switch between normal and multiple selection.
Way to go! I am so very pleased with the rapid pace of development and "hildonization" of claws mail. The woefully inadequate built in email client has long been an outright embarrassment to the platform and alternatives (such as the half completed, non-hildonized port of Sylpheed) have been slow in coming. I have been using Claws for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. Hopefully I will have some spare cash to throw in the donation pile soon!
Claws-mail on the tablet is essential, impossible to leave it
No, seriously, you can't exit only when emails are downloaded. Sometimes a long time if a server does not answer or slowly.
Specific Maemo icons are present in toolbars, one to open a message, another to close it. It's true that the double-click is not easy and for that icons are present.
You can exit the application by going to Menu>File>Exit. The X does not seem to work I agree.
I'm trying to setup Claws-Mail as a Newsreader, but when I tried downloading the Newsgroups after about 10 minutes I got a message that the app was not responding. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app and now when I select subscribe I get a Window labeled Newsgroup subscription, but it's empty. I mean No text, nothing!

Anyone have any ideas?

Hit "Refresh". And be patient afterwards, the newsgroup list takes a while to load and there's not much indication of progress...
