Hi All,
I know this thread will probably get merged but i've trawled through maemo.org posts and google searches and not been able to get this sorted out so I hope someone can show me where I am going wrong ....
I noticed the 1.2 notification about midday at work, tried to download it but it said I need to use the nokia updater so thought i'd wait until I got home... got home checked maemo.org and disabled other repo's to free up rootfs, left 'Nokia System Software Updates' repo and refreshed catalogues, got message saying failed to refresh and 1.2 update option dissapeared? has something changed on catalogue oprtions? i have:
Catalogue Name: Nokia System Software Updates
Web address:https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/203
Distribution: ./
Components: (blank)
When I try to use Nokia Software Updater I get the message shown in the screenshot below?
Is 3.2010.02.8 old or new?
When I check my version number using 'Healthcheck' my version number shows as 2010.02-8.203.1
first - make sure you create a BACKUP on your N900 (save onto memory card if u can).
second, from the screenshot you provided above, get onto it and re-install the Software that Nokia last remembers. Let it go through the motions of re-installing that firmware.
- when completed you can go back into application manager and you'll be able to install the new Meamo update.
That should do the job, and once done you can go back to your Backup and re-install bookmarks and applications (although when you go to application manager there is a new option for reinstalling ALL previous apps from one button).
makes me feel mildly better its not just me ... nut im tearing my hair out here, searching google and maemo foir answers and the only solution I find is flashing ... read the wiki on flashing and looks a bit too difficuly for a noob to linux like me ... hoping someone can help???
