If it's really that bad for you, I recommend you backup your contacts and anything of any importance and flash the phone using flasher 3.5 and an image of the latest firmware.
By reading through a few threads it seems that most people who are having issues have updated OTA. It might be worth flashing the eMMC as well if problems persist.

I have updated OTA (over the air = no PC, no Windows, no Flashing) all the way from 1.0 all the releases up to 1.2 and no problems. N900 getting better all the time.
Of course I know something about how computers work in general and.Debian variants of Linux especially. That helps alot to avoid some pitfalls.
Anyway, good luck for your update!

Agreed. This aint' even a high-end mass market device. Great hardware, but everything else is experimental. Flash 10.1 was an experiment too that did not even make it for release.

If you use your device as a phone, upgrading makes sense. I don't so will not, unless one of two things happen:

    1. PSX emulator with GPU support is released and needs the update
    2. Flash 10.1 is released and needs the update. My Incredible works better as a browser now (never though the N900 would get beat in this regard).

I do not need the update for media playing, MAME, Duke Nukem, game emu's or PSX as it stands now. All play great with 800mhz max clock and media player hovers around 250mhz

Flash games I saved play great too, so posts in threads here suggesting weaker Flash performance also makes me not want to update.

No reason for me to upgrade, ATM.
