Anyone know how to increase the default alarm playback time so that it can playback a 3 minute MP3 file?

Very good question! THX!
But I think, it is same impossible, as contact-depending ringtones....

I use alarmed and set the alarm to execute a command. then i use

mplayer (path to mp3 file)
in the command field.
eg.

mplayer /home/user/Mydocs/file.mp3

You of course need to have the apps alarmed and mplayer installed.

flip clock is a bit hit and miss with playing MP3s in my experience. Sometime the alarm plays and sometimes not.

I will check out the other one though.
