I found almost two hours of free time to work on UK MP today. And going through the bugs in the RC1 was smooth sailing this time. Album navigation works now as it's supposed to (you can navigate the other albums while playing one. Press next button and it will play next song in the album that you were listening to. Yeah, that wasn't the case before).
I also installed latest firmware to my N800 and found out some crash bugs from that, which I Naturally, fixed. Next, I got info from dev of coherence project on how to setup the volume in the app and tuned the + and - buttons to work for the volume. Immediately I noticed that it's missing some sort of graphical hint on what level it's currently on. Well, won't happen for 1.0 release.
All right. Is that it? Pretty much. I feel that UKMP is very much ready for prime time. So, grab it and run it. You shouldn't stumble on many bugs anymore.
Neither RC2 nor RC1 installed on my Nokia. I have no problems with preview23.
I uninstalled UKMP, did a reboot, tried installing it again. Didn't work except prewiew23 ... and previous.
And I found a mp3 wich crashs UKMP. I send you an email with the sample.
Hi, I've installed python 2.5 and then the UKMP RC2 in my N800. I didn't have any previous version installed before - newly flashed/upgraded OS.
The application started normally and started scanning the folders. Found 8 albums (all with covers, proper tags, all mp3s etc.). Showed a nice GUI with all the covers tiled (very impressive btw!) and I pressed the left arrow to move through the covers and it crashed.
After that it was the minimised opera window disappeared. I rebooted (I thought it might help) and tried to launch again the application but nothing happened.
Since then I tried un-installing everything and re-installing them after a reboot in between and between each of applications but i get still the same problem. It never started since.
I tried to do the "write" in xterm (as you previously proposed) but it complained that the write command is not found..
If you have any clue what it might be it would be really great.
Thanks and congratulations for finding the time to build on your own this really nice application.
@saturn:
After re-installing, did you re-install python?
I'm sure you did. Just a check.
Also, when opening xterm, do not write write, but just type:
/usr/bin/MediaCenter
@rok:
thanks for the mp3. Testing it today.
Did the installer say something when you tried to install it?
There was a definite change in the way installer works from prview23 to RC1. So, that might be causing the problems.
Did the installer say something when you tried to install it?
First he said that the installation is possible (in detail view). Then he started the installation. 10 seconds later a popup window appeared with the message, that the installation is not possible.

I knew that! I was just testing you!!
Anyway, I re-installed everything again today and it worked! I've listened a couple of songs, went through the folders and checked what was there. Everything was cool until I pressed one of the buttons and it crashed. Now if you try to launch it gives this error:
~ $ /usr/bin/MediaCenter
[Errno 13] Permission denied: '/media/mmc1/covers/'
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/MediaCenter", line 31, in <module>

Thanks for the MMC note. I already emailed you with a possible fix. Seems like the thing wasn't wroking properly if you didn't have mmc1. Well, that's fixed now, all thanks to you . I would never have seen that bug unless you had written that. So, thanks. Can you test the version I sent to you and let me know if it fixes the prob for you.
Also, about music crashin, I've been bug notified that mp3s that have cover art in them, are causing system to crash. I'll try to fix that during the weekend.
