I have read many post on forum however the more i read the more i get confuse. So i decided to register and make a thread to get answers.

1. I recently downloaded Mstardict..but i am really noob and do not know how to install dictionaries for it by using X-terminal. I did do step people around said..but still not get it work. So please show step by step how to do it. as clear as possible.

2. I read around and people said i need to install openSSH client and server in order to connect n900 to pc through Wifi and can see all hidden folder, files, root files of N900 on PC. I install OpenSSH by using App manager. Install WInSCP and do all step like get IP and fill in the bank in WInSCP. However it not work. I get "Connection timeout"
When i install OPenSSH by using app manager, it is not prompt me to enter password at all. however i used terminal to change pass for openssh by using these command:
sudo gainroot
passwd user
Still not work. So please show me step by step how to do it.

3. I tried to connect phone to Pc by using both PC suite and ovi suite by using PC mode but pc not find the phone. Is there something wrong with it?

Hi and welcome to t.m.o

1) Since I don't use mStarDict I'll leave that one for others to answer

2) Check this post, I've tried to explain it as simple as possible: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...583#post504583 (also check couple of posts bellow in case you are experiencing the same problem).

3) The latest PC Suite should be able to recognize it, although you won't get much from it. If it doesn't, try reinstalling it and connecting your N900 to another USB port (in case there is a hiccup with cached drivers)

Cheers

I don't say this with any hostility, but you have no business doing any of the things you are wanting to do.

You clearly lack even basic knowledge of how linux works (which goes hand in hand with how to use the terminal) or even basic networking knowledge it seems.

You need to steer clear of all these things and stick with non-command line programs. If Mstardict requires you to install dictionaries by using the command line then you shouldn't be using it.

If you have don't know how to use the command line, you have no use for SSH.

Go play around in linuxland, try small things like simple bash scripts. When you are more comfortable with how linux works then come back and try again.

lol nice username btw

I use Mstardict and there is no need to use terminal to install dictionaries

1. Open the program for first time so that it needs to create a folder on N900 named "mstardict"

2. Download dictonires you want to use from here

3. I hope you know how to use WinRar extract folders that you have donwloaded to a folder on your desktop then connect N900 via USB mass storage mode and copy them to that folder

Note: Each dictionary must have its own folder inside "mstardict" folder

Hope this helps
