Hi all, I just got an N900 and so far it is amazing! I'm in the process of getting things setup and installing the software I need. The problem is that I cannot find the GNU screen utility. Is this tucked away in some obscure package somewhere? I can't imagine it's not available in binary form. Any guidance here would be appreciated.

It should be in this repository: http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Jebba/Etch.

I do not see a package named screen in there... as of August 3rd, am I not looking in the proper place?

It is in the tools repository.

Open the Application Manager.
Then tap on Application Manager > Application Catalogs > New
Now make an entry ( from post #3 ) that looks like this:

Now save and completely exit the Application Manager.
Open an x-terminal and enter:

Code:
sudo gainroot
apt-get install screen
Or install whatever tool you need from this repository.
You may need to modify the "sudo gainroot" depending on how you get a root shell.
Take care.
