    P.S.:

Just in case I screwed something up with this release, I kept the old version around for both the N770 and the N800. I describe the repositories where these versions are available at

it seems good so far, but I only sent a few IMs using Jabber.

I noticed a lot of people have talked about gaim 1.5 crashing all the time. I guess I have just been very lucky cause I use it for Aim and everything seems to work perfectly and it has never crashed. All the buttons work except for the close button on the main window but who would want that to work it could easily be clicked and it would sign you off. For me ill stick with gamim 1.53

It's true. It has never crashed on me either. I started porting 2.0 for different reasons:

    - there was no way to get it to do that cool blinking-in-the-panel effect when you got a new conversation ... and even if you got the main panel icon to blink, there was no way to make only those of the submenu icons blink that represented conversations with unread messages.

    - Two words: "Buddies" -> "Quit"

    - I found it confusing to unset "Away". Setting it was easy enough, but removing it seemed to require doing so per-account. Maybe I'm just easily confused.

    - Gaim 1.5 was ported to a then-relevant, but now-deprecated API. Initially, I tried to update it to the new API, but I realized that it would take a considerable effort. So, I figured: Why hack on a version that's essentially a dead-end ? Might as well play with the bleeding-edge version.

Anyhoo - those are my reasons for porting 2.0 *shrug*

I can't even install it, it keeps on telling me that I need a newer version of hildon-libs. Am I going to have to upgrade to Scirocco, which has only served to cause more problems for me than it could possibly ever hope to fix?
