As I'm sure you already know, wellsfargo.com is not friendly to the 770 and N800. Other posters have said they have no problem accessing the web sites of competitor banks.

As you may also be aware, wellsfargo.com just underwent a makeover. Personally I like the revamped interface, but I note that our problem still remains.

Wells Fargo has included a link to communicate feedback over the new site. I sent them a message expressing my displeasure with this situation. I highly recommend every other tablet user that is a customer of theirs do likewise. In your comments, be sure to point out the inconvenience of the status quo and the accessibility of competitor sites.

What I'd like to see them do is at a minimum provide a stripped-down alternate page where mobile device users can at least get balances and perform simple queries. That would be a start, and easy for them to implement.

This seems to be an on going situation with most banks, Citigroup's Banamex is a site which is not friendly to anything but I.E. (even they claim to support "Netscape", which is not really true). Forget about them supporting Opera and even less the Opera on the Nokia devices.

If banks just followed international standards and got rid of their love for proprietary stuff.

Could you give us some technical items to mention in our communication to Wells Fargo -- eg, "... Wells Fargo's use of Java / AJAX / whatever-it-is is not widely supported in mobile devices [or in Opera or whatever-it-is] ... instead of just saying "your website doesn't work on my N800".

Thanks.

Personally, I'd keep it as high-level as possible and not get down into gritty details. I mentioned the N800 (prefixed with "Nokia" so that made their work easier) and Opera, but left it at that technically. I'll leave it to their IT guys to acquire an N800 and see what works and what doesn't.

But I won't presume to do anything but suggest. Feel free to bog them down with as many details as you like: In that case I believe Java is the culprit here.

Whilte the 770 / N800 are a very big deal to all the members of this forum, I really doubt WF's IT folks will actually acquire one to troubleshoot the compatibility issues.

Yes, when the iPhone is released if it has similar issues, WF will rush out, buy beg or steal one and resolve the problems promptly ... but that's only because the iPhone is a high-profile mobile device with lots of media attention. (Sadly, the N800 will be classified as a device that 99% of the general population hasn't even heard of - let alone own one - so will get scant attention from WF).

I still think that we have to tell WF exactly what features don't work "in the real world" that WF assumes all devices and browsers do support.

Error #1 - I wasn't aware that Opera doesn't allow cookies. They seem to work for other sites.

I feel sure they won't if nothing is mentioned.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The cost to me was a few minutes typing. Worth it.

Yes, but what would be the harm in also mentioning specifics? My roommate is a Wells Fargo customer, and I am a Citibank customer.

I don't recall mentioning any possible harm. In fact, I said if you feel led to provide high level of detail, do so! I just offered an opinion.

I thought that you were recommending that people "not get into gritty details". I think that getting into some gritty details is fine, and I would like to hear some.
