Many threads start of with good intentions and contain many useful posts. Eventually they start to degenerate into a collection of stupid comments that offer no meaningful value to the discussion and then when you try to search for something you have to wade through these comments and eventually you just give up..."

Cat 1: "Yeah I know what you mean! I want to install MeeGo on my n900 and searched this forum. It's really hard trying to find stuff sometimes"

Cat 2: "How many ways can you say the meego UX is not out yet. It's obvious its delayed. Isn't is better for it to be delayed for a little while and make sure it is in a basic usable state rather than release something sub-standard?"

Cat 1: "If anyone is serious about meego why don't you visit the meego website? It has a lot of information about meego on the n900. For example one of the blockers with the project is that the battery management software was crashing the device - I think it was doing this when it was charging I can't remember"

Reta5ded dog: "lwa completely missed the point of the original comment and rambled on about taking up space in databases and getting a puppy. I'm really offended by the last bit I'm a happy dog and my owner treats me well - the last thing I want is to compete with a puppy for my owner's attention. He also spends a lot of time with his family and does many other things beyond this forum."

Cat 1: "lwa must be human because no cat or dog would reply with something so stupid."

Reta5ded dog: "I hope my owner does not post our conversation on this thread because he will just add to the problem - but what do I know I'm reta5ded."
Obviously your reta5ded dog and myself have different opinions of forums.. I try and treat them like a conversation... if you put people in a room and give them a topic to talk about, it will initially be very formal and to the topic, as the conversation continues it might occasionally go off on a tangent as peoples responses become more and more familiar, that doesn't mean we need someone to jump in and stop all people talking, as long as the conversation isn't making it hard for a developer, being abusive or hurting the community at large, its natural to have an organic flow to conversations as they gravitate around a topic, and therefor I don't see why its an issue an a conversational community forum.

While I agree with your sentiments, please, make an effort to keep it polite. The atmosphere stays a lot nicer.

    My apologies

It is just irritating to see the whole "sky is falling" attitude

While PR1.2 was clearly delayed, the only actual announcement Nokia ever made regarding a date was, "U.K. today, everywhere else tomorrow", which was accurate. As with the original N900 release date, where Nokia only said "November", various people online with no connection to Nokia made dates up out of whole cloth and complained when their hollowness was proven.

There's time yet for a release today, especially given the signs that the left coast of the United States is a (the?) key location for MeeGo. qgil is relocating there, after all.

What is the big deal about the release date?

    Why must it be today?

As far as I know the original intention was to release the UX last month but it slipped. Then it was "in June" and recently "30th June".

Of course none of this was formally announced and is still "rumours" !

The developers have said that the blocker was something to do with the battery management over at meego.com and maybe other stuff too.

If it is going to take a little longer than so be it. Why are people starting to get annoyed by this?

I'm excited about the meego project and desperately want to try it.
Yes, I am disappointed it is not out yet but as a developer I understand that these things often get delayed.

So we have to be patient and see what happens over possible the next few days.

Let's try and avoid the "gloom and doom" and ranting against Nokia and Meego.

We really do not want this thread to go the same way as "that" PR1.2 thread do we?

"rumors"? "none of this was formally announced"? Better look at this:
    http://www.fiercedeveloper.com/story...utm_source=rss

The director of MeeGo software at Nokia, Valtteri Halla, said, that it's going to be released on 30th June in that interview.

no questions asked, this is definitely an announcement.

    Wow! I missed that!

I can't believe a Nokia Director actually communicated something committal like that!

What next? "Cats and dogs living together...."

Mind you I would rather wait a little longer if it means greater stability and a few less bugs.

I still haven't figured out why exactly you think they won't release anything today?

I think the hardest thing ever ever is the actual user interface.
It needs to be really well thought out and see how it caters to the intended devices. And then see how it could be useful on another device.

For instance, most bloggers say how much better Android is over iphones user interface (navigation, widgets, wallpaper, notifications etc) but when that is amplified onto a 8" tablet it just looks bloated and ugly.

If Nokia could get A+ with the entire user interface, it wont matter if they get C- in everything else, and thats the ugly truth. Because all the rest could be improved but when you try to patch the user interface, you notice that it starts looking very ugly (Frankenstein) and not a fluid experience. Because when you have a universal experience with the interface (ie built from scratch) it makes THAT MUCH of an experience, which is why the iPhone was so appealing in a world of HTC windows mobile ugliness.
