Just to let people know who facing the same issues.
I don't know maybe I'm using newer version but that option to add CD drive was available later under the settings before you started the Linux. Also didn't let me run Linux with 512 ram. 800 seems to be ok.
Another one thing make sure that you have USB VirtualBox driver installed. Just let windows to find it automatically and it works (this is unusual for windows I know )
You can also select N900->usb from the settings before you start Virtual machine.
trying to attach my N900 to linux mint (thru virtualbox), get this error:
(have sd card in N900, and connected via USB in mass storage mode)
any help really appreciated, thanks
ok do it like this, have it plugged in let windows recognize it, pause the virtual machine, and then mount it, now resume.... if you get that error, retry above. Unplug it now and then reconnect again, it should pick up the device now, I would suggest doing it with a mass storage device instead of the n900, however the n900 should work. I had that same problem before for a few hours before I figured it out.
Also the easiest way of doing this hassle free is to do this...
1.connect to the virtual machine with a mass storage reader, like I described above.
2. "sudo su"(enter), then "gparted"(enter), keep terminal open
3. select the card, create partitions (100mb fat32 for the first, and then whatever else above 2gb for the other in ext3). apply
4. I have the android package files on my mint desktop, download them, or copy them over with a usb drive, etc.
5. in terminal enter "mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt", this mounts your mc partition, now we set up to copy...
6.cd /mnt (enter)
sudo tar xjvvpf ../home/USERNAME/Desktop/NITDroid-N900-0.0.3-1-Demo.tbz2 (enter)
it will begin to copy some files over....
umount /mnt (enter)
wait to process...and done....that should be it, It took me hours of poor instruction translating to get it down to a few mins.
I'm still having no luck getting Flash Player to run. I put it in /system/app/ and it won't run. I check the applications in settings and it says it's there, but still calculating, size 0.00. Anyone?
