Just a few remarks for new people too lazy to read the whole thread:
- The link in the start post doesn't seem to work anymore.

Doh. I spent the whole evening trying to find out why the Clutter Actors does not generate signals when clicked. With no luck.
The UI is there and should work, but the buttons just do not react to mouse clicks.

Any ideas?

hildon-desktop uses ClutterActor that should accept mouse click event and emit clicked signal.
And these definitely do get the click events, because the desktop below does not register them.

Thanks for this smoku and team.

I seriously think this is the way forward for Maemo, as the only viable workaround for the fact that Nokia probably isn't going to open anything more for Maemo 5. This is the only way I can see for getting a current platform that is being actively developed onto the N900, while still being able to use the tried-and-tested apps that make up the N900's native OS.

Keep up the good work, I'm rooting for you...
