Thanks, I can report it works... I am a newcomer to the thread and to the Nokia 770 and for the last couple of days I got tripped over the bad audio being generated by the universal binary of mencoder -- I am running on a G4 PPC Powerbook.
Any possibility that you may offer options in Media Converter to go from a VIDEO_TS folder to a suitable .avi file for the 770?
after having installed the "mac os x"-version which produced crisp video but only loud and static sound i installed the "powerpc"-version on both a g4 powerbook and a g5 imac - resulting to get the error message "fail" on both systems (10.4.7)

no, actually i was trying to convert very different free small videos but with all of them the message occurs...and with the macos-version it works but with bad sound...
Since the mplayer is in a very good shape now, not sure if konttori can create an option to generate a single-pass encoded DivX, 352x240 @ 25fps as reported by Nickster.
Hmm.. is mplayer now capable of full rate 352x240 video? I've been away a week or so and suddendly such progress! I tried mplayer in its initial stages two weeks ago or so. But if it's as good as you're saying, then, definately, I will add that tomorrow!
I'll download mplayer now and make a few quick tests. Although, if 352x240 is possible, I'd rather make the video at 400x240 if possible (nice for pixel doubling - sharp video)
