Is it supposed to be unusably slow, or am I doing something wrong?

N900, latest updates.

Since this is "Firefox question(s)" I hope OP doesn't mind if I have a couple of questions too
1. Is it possible to have cursor/hover-mode or something alike?
2. Is flash still disabled?

Haven't noticed 1.1 is slower, but it seems to 'function' better. The downside to it is I cannot run iPlayer on it - but I can still use the bundled browser. Opera seems better on the n900 than Firefox. It is a shame Chrome doesn't run on it - I find on my netbook, if I'm connected via mobile network, Chrome is best.

Do you have any plugins installed that need updating (I know there's only a couple available - but might be worth a try).

Mish.
