Have you tried leaving the phone to dry for a few days? Sometimes phones start working on their own.

You don't need to root an Android phone to replace the keyboard. Personally, I recommend checking into getting Swype or a fold-up mid-size keyboard like the Freedom Pro (which I have--works pretty okay for most of my terminal needs and document writing on-the-go).

no you don't, a sausage will behave like your finger just take a look at the iphone sausage stylus.
