It's kind of sad to see people have such narrow mindedness that they think anything outside of 'system administration tools' are 'toys'...

i agree with you on that .
but ..
i think the promos for the N900 is " always online " or something like that , so as for ONLINE i think it has achived the promised " g00ds " . u have skype msn yahoo etc messenger , skype and g00gle video call , facebook and tweater apps ( and they are free ) , u have the best browser on a mobile device , what else do u want ?
as for games u have the emulators nes gb gba snes etc .. if u get one of thouse u have like over 100 QUALITY games ( donkey kong mario etc.. ) , u have some ports and some games under development , so i think that is a great number of games ..
(btw are u intending into using the N900 as a console ? u can get ps3 xbox360 for less than half the n900 costs ) .
i dont think the platform is ever going to be full of comercial apps for the simple reason that none is going to pay 5-6 euros for a crapy game , app etc they sell on ovi store when u can get much more apps ( in number and qulity ) from the comunity and for FREE .

Ok, I only voiced my opinion on that particular remark that I quoted, not about the N900.
But, since you've brought it up... those points you've raised are valid, but they also exist on the other platforms. They're not unique to the N900. So as far as those 'features' that you mentioned, the competitors have them too... and then some.
As far as apps pricing goes, the Android has a large number of free apps and the popular apps and games on iPhone are priced under $1.99 (but mostly $0.99).

sorry if i mislead u , the rest of my post was not inteded for u , it was for the thread writer " bewrong " .
but since u replyed too :P u cant compare the iphone with N900 realy !
nothing to compare , they are made for different markets ..
lets say the iphone is a device i whould buy / recomend to my girlfriend but the n900 aint . the android is somewhere in between .
as others have posted before me it comes to what u want to do .
ps: sorry for my english aint my native language.
Also the mistaken belief that the N900 is a regular old cell phone.
The majority of complaints I see are baseless, not much more than hand waving without substance. Usually most are indicative of an individual that has not even performed a modicum of research to resolve whatever issue it is they have.
Also some people just like to whine and complain. Temper tantrums.
