wouldn't that be great! i love the arrow keys, but a dpad snap on accessory would be awesome. any one care to make it? im guessing it wouldn't be hard since the n900 is open source. im also pretty sure that building a usb dpad wouldn't be to hard, with some basic electronics knowledge. it'd buy it if any one makes a working prototype.
here is a hardware switch i came across with a quick search. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...Me5iLbu%2f0%3d Last edited by sanchdaniel; 2010-07-16 at 06:08. |

You also need a microcontroller which implements the USB HID stack, and talks to the USB bus and the n900. http://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/hidkeys.html for example Then you need ESD protection, so it's not killed the first time it's plugged in in a dry environment, mechanical design that will take being unplugged and plugged in often, and probably also a electrical switch and USB socket so that you can charge or use USB normally without unplugging the device. Impossible - certainly not. Easy - not really. Oh - and you also need drivers on the n900 side - most software won't expect a joystick for example. Also - USB host isn't working yet - which is another required\ part of this. |
