Your Qt seems to have the wrong style. I think the cure could be re-installing some qt packages, don't know which ones though. My Qt applications look also like that when I run them from terminal with user root.

Why? Qt 4.6 coming with PR1.2 should be enough for any user and most of the developers.

This is your problem. You are using the experimental version of Qt 4.7. Just stick to what comes with pr1.2 and you'll be fine.

Edit: actually you should be able to have both versions installed at the same time. So I'm not sure if that is really your problem.

You could try re-installing libqt4-gui (as root "apt-get install libqt4-gui --reinstall")

4.6 packages are still there? I'm wondering what for. Anyway you should really use the ones pr1.2 ships with. If you removed them and don't want to flash you device, you can install them at least from the sdk repository.
