When attempting to remove quick launch, I receive the following error:

(Reading database ... 32778 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing quick-launch ...
killall: quick-launch-daemon: no process killed
initctl: Unknown job: quicklaunch
rm: cannot remove '/etc/event.d/quicklaunch': No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing quick-launch (--remove):
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
initctl: Unknown job: quicklaunch
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
quick-launch
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Edit /var/lib/dpkg/info/quick-launch.prerm and comment out all lines.

Beacuse of I am not able to uninstall I am getting on every install or update of a different application "dpkg error".

Try a # in front of the the lines instead. That worked for me.

I tried the # as well but in vain. I am still not able to uninstall quick-launch, very weird

I have the same problem. I could not even find any file with a "prem" extension in that directory. When I tried to remove the program, many times, the status reads "broken but updateable" Please help.
