hi,
I bought N900 and I want to check if its new and original device

how can I see the time that the phone is worked for?

what can I understand from the IMEI code?

the device is made in korea as its written on the picture under the battery.
does all the item like headphones etc. made in korea also?

does nokia has any list of IMEI codes of original devices?

and anything else to check if its new and original device

pls give me any info how to check it
its very important.
tnx!

Go here: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

Enter your IMEI number. If it gets you in, the IMEI is legit.

I really don't think that *fake* N900 exists...

If it runs Maemo 5 it's probably an N900...

Isn't there a build date where the IMEI is written? (under the battery)

That could give *some* indication.

I don't think this is possible.
(It was on S60 phones, though.)

as far as i know, the n900's are made in korea, there should be a label saying "Designed in Finland" on the back of the screen.

accessories ar made in China (nowadays) maybe coz there is quite manpower and less labor expense on that country, but i am not certain.

EDIT: my charger is made in Japan and the audio/video out is in Thailand.

unfortunatly if you flash te firmware, it also resets the uptime and the date.

This means it is impossible to know if it's secondhand

They certainly do exist. ebay warning on fake n900s. There's 2 styles as well.

One fake that I've seen has Nokia Nseries printed in white on the back cover and the camera lens cover has the info embossed. Apart from that, one good way to detect a fake is to try and find x-term in the menu.
