While the AT&T version was more expensive up front, I am not locked in to a contract and can turn the data on and off on a monthly basis as needed. I intend this mainly for home use with occasional outings, so I should be able to get away with no data or the $15 for 250MB. If I start using more than 2GB a month I will definitely regret this decision.
