I've just learned that Skype doesn't have ANY BT headset support on Android. This is based on the way that it's coded, and should be factored into the 'headset compatibility' measurement.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the Galaxy Tab has good support. As debernardis pointed out, even SIPdroid has troubles using headsets.

Getting Hulu to work on the Galaxy Tab.

Hulu on the Galaxy Tab makes a lot of sense. Thankfully with a little bit of hackery, you can use a hex editor to modify the flash player to make it *look* like a windows flash player, and gain access to Hulu content online!

This is great for US Tab owners!

For those that don't know, the Galaxy Tab supports bluetooth keyboards *and* mice out of the box:

NOTE: It seems that the Verizon Tab is gimped for BT keyboards. Verizon seems to gimp a lot of things and should probably be avoided.

This is great news, as it can now much more competently fill in as a laptop replacement with a very portable BT keyboard, and BT mouse.

This would work well for long coding sessions, SSHing, productivity documents (pre-installed Think Free office, or Google Docs), or even some multi-player quake 3 (kwaak 3 for android)!!

My wireless mouse (logitech v450) just started showing signs of failing. The left button registers multiple depressions when I drag which is *really* annoying, and causes all sorts of unwanted things. I'm going to be upgrading to a BT mouse (logitech v470 ~$40 new on ebay -- maybe, the reviews are spotty), and together with my BT keyboard, I'm extremely confident that the Tab will function as my notebook away from home!

Wasn't reader's hub installed on your system? As I understand it, Samsung doesn't have an official e-book reader, but includes an external service (eg. kobo) for this task.

I could be wrong. Anyone care to help?

The Tab (Generic UK Edition) comes with 'Readers Hub' and 'eBook' preinstalled.

I can't speak to the stability, though.
Opera Mobile has been rock solid for me, much better than the stock browser was for the relatively short time I used it.

    Hey Andy,

Do you notice a constant stutter when scrolling (maybe 2 stutters per second), or was this only on the unit I tested? I'm thinking that it may have been a background process stealing cycles every now and then.

Sorry to hear that! I know that different Tab's come with different software bundles thanks to carriers and regions.

Just download Kobo or Kindle and you've got the exact same thing. Seriously. Also, download zinio for access to magazines.

I wouldn't denounce the Tab down over this minor inconvenience, but to each his own!

Let me know how I can help otherwise.
