I agree with Karel: the disappearance of the Bluetooth icon is a bug rather than a feature. It's a nuisance to have to go through several layers of Control Panel dialogs to reconnect. I tend to leave Bluetooth on most of the time because I like to use the keyboard even when I'm just browsing. My subjective impression is that it's a substantial additional drain on the battery.

Average user would be connecting and disconnecting from wifi far more than playing with bluetooth. Some users never use Bluetooth at all. Doesn't make sense to keep it up permanently. I suppose it shows their phone roots in a way. Usually no way to quickly turn on/off on those either.
The "do it yourself" wasn't meant as a dig. Is there a technical reason why the 770 community solution wouldn't also work on the N800?
