The "dpkg -l | grep wrt" was of great help. Then I purged all five packages piece by piece until I got it in the right sequence, and finally that dpkg cmd showed nothing anymore.
(I think that is crucial, everything wrt must be completely purged before installing another version.)

Then I compared the output of the 2 simulation cmds:
Code:
apt-get -s install qtwrt=1.1.0
and
Code:
apt-get -s install qtwrt-experimental=1.1tp-3
the offending pkg which leads to 11 segfaults in a row on my N900 was wrt-api, which was not to be installed in the second version above.
So I dared to call that line without -s:
Code:
apt-get install qtwrt-experimental=1.1tp-3
and this time it ran through without errors,
finally I deactivated extras-devel and installed TwimGo.

And after a quick look, TwimGo was worth all this effort, it looks great!
this worked for me as well. going through and purging each individual wrt file then reinstalling the 1.1tp-3 worked perfectly. i had an error installing twimgo through xterm but it installed just fine through appman by clicking on it instead.

Leave TwimGo open, set auto-refresh to 5 minutes, disable your data connection or WiFi, connection dialog pops up, leave another 5 minutes, new connection dialog will STACK over the previous, continue leaving and more stacked dialogs pile up.

Qt or TwimGo issue? Needs to be fixed, regardless.

I would guess that this is a Qt Web Runtime issue. It shouldn't stack the connection windows this way.

Can you add a small connectivity test, and if failed then auto-refresh is temporarily disabled?

I keep getting an error that the wgt file is corrupted
TwimGo.wgt is 326453 bytes, and "sum" gives "10380 319"

I have qtwrt-experimental installed. Ideas?

the wgt is not corrupted. i think the wgt is not compatible with your current qtwrt-experimental.
upgrade your qtwrt into version 1.1.0, using this step:
  • uninstall qtwrt-experimental
  • then install qtwrt
hope this would help you

I have Extras-devel enabled.

Application Manager does not list any QT WRT; or QTWRT applications.

apt-get install qtwrt-experimental=1.1tp-3 lists missing dependencies of wrt-api-experimental

apt-get install qtwrt lists missing dependencies of wrt and wrt-api

I am quite nervous of palying around with the command line so did not want to experiment any more.

Can someone help please, why can I not install Qt Web Runtime ?
Thanks

This is the solution for all having problems about installing the newest version of twimgo.

* uninstall qtwrt-experimental
* then install qtwrt

apt-get remove qtwrt-experimental
Package qtwrt-experimental is not installed, so not removed....

I also tried manually installing each missing dependency but each needed another.
qtwrt needed wrt and wrt-api; wrt-api needs libwrt-api1; libwrt-api1 needs libqtm-contacts and libqtm-messaging plus a bunch of others.

It is clear now that this is not a TwimGo issue but any advice of how to resolve or where to go to get help much appreciated.
