Hello

Key logger runs hidden in the background to record and monitoring pressed keystrokes taking screenshot .. Wonder if this could be done with N900.Yah Call it a Spy APP for your N900 .

Yes it can be done. Fortunately there is not much intersection between the groups of people who:

* Own an N900
* Have the intelligence to write such an app
* Are "ethically challenged" enough to want one

For sure if the user base was higher, then such malware would start appearing. For now, be grateful

There are already keyloggers for i.e. ubuntu (you have them in the official repository even), not sure if they are even in a scripting language (perl/python) or if you will have to recompile them to make it work in the n900.

But the main problem with the idea is that you don't need a keylogger, you need a fingerlogger, as good part of the interaction with the device is thru the touchscreen (even the on screen keyboard could play a part therel.

keyloggers aren't so simple, you really need to be prepared to reflash when messing with this type of thing.

Hopefully you can understand at least that custom kernel modules and intercepting syscalls is too low-level to just take from one linux device to another, and expect it to work.

A software keylogger would probably record keystrokes from an O/S soft keyboard like Microsoft, depending on where exactly it hooks into the operating system.
