Guys and Gals ,
I would really appreciate your help, because after fighting with my N900 for last 5 days I'm exhausted.I was trying to have enough space and stop getting "full memory" or "not enough space on device" errors. Finally ,I got this going ,after removing some app over winSCP,becasue app manager was not accesable.Still having some problems, beacause I have buch of icons which I no longer have app for on my N900.There is no way I can remove them using app manager.I tried few times ,with "invalid operation" error.Obviouslly they are NOT there anymore, but still have icons. How to remove them and have them reinstall again? Please!Thanx in advance.

Removing the unused icons is quite easy...

I'm not really familiar with winscp - does it allow you to use apt-get over ssh? It sounds a little bit like you might be doing things in a non-standard way - it's pretty rare that an apt-get --purge remove would fail to delete the desktop file as well.

How are you removing the programs?

Anyway, removing unused or unwanted icons: (Assuming you are a little bit familiar with the terminal?)

Open up an x-term - maybe switch to root.

cd /usr/share/applications/hildon
ls -al

In here you'll see a bunch of files ending in .desktop

Find the one you don't want and either move it elsewhere, or simply delete it. (rm -rf <filename>) Also not all file names correspond with the actual application name so maybe grep "application name" * to find which one it is if it's not obvious.

Also there are other locations that hold .desktop files, so you may need to search around /usr/share/applications a little.

First of all thanx a bunch, second of all as for winSCP ,this is a free FTP client.Using winscp over wifi is pretty simple .While you on the same network with You PC and N900 ,you are allowed to look thorugh your hidden files on your phone.By simply right clicking on N900 folder ,you can delete it right off your PC desktop.
I was forced to use it ,becasue I'm not really familiar with x-term(at least at that time).I needed to remove some app in order to get more room on my phone and be able to start up app manager.Otherwies ,I did not have any catalogues (not even nokia's) .
I'll give it a try and I'll let you know.Thanx again!!!

Thanx again. It worked like a charm I have only like one app (BlessN900 for camera) thats is giving me problem ,which I cant remove out of my phone.Still appears to be as "installed app" in app manager. Is there any global command to look in entire root?Other than that ,there is nothing I would be concerned about..Thanx
