Are you using wifi or GPRS?

In xTerm can you run the command
Code:
nslookup repository.maemo.org
and what do you get back?

turn off repositories one by one to see which one is playing up.

Try

$ host google.com

$ host maemo.org

If you can't resolve those your DNS is somehow not working for you.

You can edit this in connection settings. E.g. 194.109.6.66 will work as DNS server, or try OpenDNS.

Are you able to browse the Internet on this connection? Try using the web browser.

Also, try this:

$ root
# ping -c 5 74.125.79.99

Find your providers DNS server settings and add them to your phones connection settings, that will solve your problem.

you can also set 8.8.8.8 as your DNS server if you don't know your providers settings.
