Hi

I was thinking of trying to control a quadrocopter with my N900, but for this I will have hard real time needs. This would properly require installing RTAI to the kernel or similar.

Does anyone have experience in this field? Then I would very much appreciate your help.

Maybe there is already some real time stuff in the linux kernel for i.e. GSM functionality that you could use?

Thanks,
Anders

afaiunderstand the GSM module is self-contained in HW, the linux side. talks to it on a rather high level, but unlesss you're planning on doing all the control on n900 (including balancing [for which the accelomerter is nowhere near goos enough and lacking gyro is a killer] etc) i'd guess you can spare a latency of few ms.

go ahead and compile a custom kernel, flashing it is easy and if it won't work you cqan the stock one back (it's possible to extract just the kernel from the fiasco images so rootfs can stay intact)
