When I tap the power button, my screen rotates because I have slide rotate installed. But everytime I hit the power button, a menu comes up. Is there a way to disable that menu but keep the power button working?

try searching for tweakr, maybe disabling that menu or changing it to something else with that app can do what you want. maybe it bricks your phone... good luck :P

err wait... n800? sorry i guess you can't use that then. but maybe the source is available, or you can find something about how that is implemented now.

Disabling the osso-systemui service will get rid of the menu, along with the "keys locked" notification and some alarm stuff.

Run /etc/init.d/osso-systemui stop as root or install maemo-control-services and uncheck systemui so it doesn't start again when the device is rebooted.

mce editor is a program (probably hides out in extra-devel) that edits a config file for these various actions.
