I updated to PR 1.3, reinstalling my apps. I was just wondering, is it safe for me to reinstall the enhanced kernel? Been using it with "ideal" voltages and just want to make sure the PR 1.3 is compatible.
i did this and asked if i was rootsh something and i typed yes and then enter now its spamming the letter "y" is it suppose to do that?
ok this is what it says after i do what u said:
E:could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
so im running 1GHz now.... everything is ok... changes : faster browser... opening email is better now... its not like last time that takes 5-10 secs to open... transition is snapier now...
I'm being prompted by app manager to upgrade via PC Suite but i dont want to
i have 65mb rootfs free isn't that enough lol?
Anyway i've removed a few games, and also that Healthchecker app as someone mentioned on this post but still app manager is asking me to upgrade via pc suite
is there a way i can find out which apps might be conflicting with this upgrade or generally how to get the ota to work.
edit: does the desktop command widget have anything to do with it?
I noticed the Device to be a little snappier. Especially during web browsing and when sliding through the desktop. the Screen just seems more responsive when you touch and move around.
It also seems the ram has been improved and after the update i believe a few more apps where added to OVI store.
I haven't tried OC'ing yet but the way it is now is pretty darn good. Too bad no Flash 10.1 but still a great device. I want to see the new apps with QT4.7 roll in!
BTW the way i updated was OTA and it did say the best way to Update was through WLAN. Everytime i try through USA T-Mobile 3.5G my app manager can never get through that port problem of 8080 i think. So WLAN/wifi is the way to go everyone! Start switching those modes! it does take a while though. Make sure to open app manager and connect to wifi and give it 15mins and it will prompt to update.
Ok finally updated using FAM otherwise nokia's own methods were useless. Lost teh multi boot feature of android / power kernal / normal but retained kernal settings and still having 1.1Ghz o/cd. Rest all apps still same no data loss of any kind. Now need to reformat the 8gb card as i dont need android anymore. I'm happy with iphone4 1000s of apps.
Performance at 1.1ghz seems better than before cept the standard apps manager is still taking ages to show updates.
You can't complain about Nokia's upgrade methods when you have customized you device so much. Nokia isn't going to waste the time to write an installer that deals with every possible configuration.
I never had problems reading Android forums, reaching my Verizon site for billing or even GOOGLE every time I was upgraded to new Android firmware. I thought Nokia was a big company or somejunk?
The difference is your telcom is providing the update not Samsung, HTC, etc.. They don't have to roll it out to the world. Not taking Nokia's side, but it's a bit different. Most websites are designed for average load not peak.
