I have a few daily alarms programmed on my N900 to remind me to take my medication. They are events that run from, say, 22:00 to 22:00 and the alarm has to sound 0 minutes after. A few days ago I ran the update of Maemo 5, and since then the alarm only sounds when I'm lucky. More often than not the alarm time passes with no sound or anything from the device, which is switched on and lying on the table with the screen upwards. This caused me quite some discomfort already. Does anyone experience similar problems? And how can I work around this?

I'm experiencing this as well.

I worked around the problem by making the events 5 minutes long instead of 0 minutes. That seems to do the trick.

Edit: nope, that doesn't work. It didn't warn me for all events today! It's ridiculous!

I think this is completely unacceptable and I will write to Nokia about this.

I've not had any problems since the upgrade, but I leave all my events that are just reminders at 1hr long, which may or may not be relevant.

This sounds like a reason to potentially avoid PR1.3.
I don't want to be missing appointments; I depend on the calender every day. At least, best wait and see what other calendar bugs people find, if any.

Coincidentally, the application manager isn't offering me PR1.3 anyway, despite being in the UK where I've read its theoretically released

I tried this, but even for recurrent events of 0 minutes duration
(11.00 - 11.00) the alarm rings.

Or is this related to this Bug 11100 No calendar alarm in Silent mode?

It's not related to that bug. And it's also not very reproducable; sometimes the alarm rings, sometimes not. The phone is always in 'Normal' mode with the vibrator on.

I just wrote to Nokia Benelux about this problem. I hope we will get an answer soon.
This morning I discovered that the calender widget also contains bugs. It displayed an event that ended yesterday as happening today. Not at all good! I switched the widget off, hoping against hope that this will solve the alarm problem.
