Has anyone thought that threads like this are why the N800 is considered a 'fringe' device? I love my N800, but don't know if I can stand the constant back and forth about absolutely nothing. Euchreprof, if the update comes out on 11 June, great. If it doesn't, will that really be the end of the world? No one has shown anything but a healthy skepticism about a release date that may or may not be factually accurate. To echo some other posts on this thread, I am skeptical of any release date that has anything to do with software. I would rather see an update that makes my unit more complete than one that causes crashes or is full of other bugs. That's it. So long as the software update is stable, and comes out sometime in the next few weeks, I'll be happy. Who really cares what the exact date is?
1. Skype... I wish I cared enough to want to use it... I tried VOIP on the phone already and couldn't even hear anything, even tho there was sound on the other end. Will there be webcam support? I wonder if you can use a webcam with anything but googletalk but sadly only 1 of my buddies even uses it... everyone else is on AIM/MSN/Yahoo
2. Someone is actually trying to give a release date of the software that may be right, obviously people are cruising this forum hoping for some thing out of the update, people are reading the forum for either the Skype or New OS, me personally I came here to check for New OS, originally I purchased my N800 thinking it would have a Symbian OS.. only to find Linux, which by surprise seems to be an alright OS.
3. I am hoping the new OS / update brings JAVA and Opera 9! I see alot of promise with the N800
Now with all that said... Maybe he knows the date cause he is either
- the producer for n800
- the quality assurance project lead
- a tester testing whom has finished testing it
- screwing one of the above...

So simple!
If it's any of the first 3, then posting a date of any kind is expressly forbidden. If it's the last, well... no comment.
FYI I knew the launch date of the N800 down to the hour, and those who were here at the time know very well I tortured them by not providing concrete details.
