Hello,
I hope and believe it has been only one case, because the widget does not interfere with the kernel. Compared to the previous version, it use the dbus to get information about screen unlocking and use the maemo's banner.
Let me know.

Ok. So I have re-installed the widget, and straight away got the error "Kernel-power-settings" not loaded, even though I thought I had. Anyway, at some point, the settings must have got uninstalled somehow. Reinstalled kernel power settings and everything is now fine. Sorry I thought it was the widget.

Don't worry mate. I just added the version 0.1.8-2, but there are no major changes, just an adjustment in the 'control' file for Debian.

Please, look if you notice difference in the battery consumption.

Hi guys, I got a problem with maxcpu's widget not showing in the widget list (but it does on the desktop when ran from the CLI).

Some info:
  • When run from the CLI it works proper (both as root and user):
Code:
[1|root@Nokia-N900|~]python /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/maxcpu.py
kernel-config limits 250 700
kernel-config limits 250 600
  • I tried using both the stable and testing versions of the app.
  • OMWeather's widget does show up in the widget list.

I hope that's enough info

Hi, new applications sometimes do not appear immediately, try rebooting.

But if you want, check for file maxcpu.desktop
try in x-teminal

Code:
ls -l /usr/share/applications/hildon-home

Hi, I forgot to mention but I already rebooted a few times.

maxcpu.desktop does exist in /usr/share/applications/hildon-home, the permissions are the same as the other files in there.

I just found out that after updating the access time on the maxcpu.desktop file makes it show up in the widget list. As I click on maxcpu in the widget list, the widget list closes but the maxcpu widget doesn't get added to my desktop. After this maxcpu disappears from the list again, until I change the access time again.

Very odd...

Yes, very odd... I've never heard of similar problems...

Try to edit the file maxcpu.desktop, and modify it, should be:
Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=maxCPU
Comment=fast change of CPU clock
Type=python
X-Path=maxcpu.py
X-Multiple=True
delete the blank lines at the top of file
delete line: name[c]=maxcpu
one blank lines at end of file.

But I don't think this is the problem.

I also try to update your system:
x-teminal:
root
Code:
apt-get clean
apt-get autoclean
apt-get autoremove
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

As expected editing the .desktop file didn't work. Updating my phone didn't help either (nothing to update).

I'll try downgrading everything to stable tonight (currently running testing), I doubt that will help but it's worth a shot.

Thank you for your help so far

Downgrading didn't seem to help either. So I went with making a shortcut that runs the command to launch the widget, it works but obviously I'd like to get to the root of this problem .
