I keep trying to skype video chat on my N900 with no luck. I have tried skype on two different macs with two different accounts and on skype for Ubuntu also?

I connect and it has sound, but the video does not work. The video feed shows in corner of my N900, but nothing on the other end. And skpe app on all 3 computers will not allow me to turn on video to send when I connect with my N900?

I am using wifi in all cases?

Anyone else having problems?

The Indian firmware does not have skype built in because of legal restrictions. The Global firmware has skype built in.
If you have the global firmware, you should be able to make voice calls and receive video calls.

As far as I know, video calls with skype only work with other n900s, the latest version of skype for windows and the latest versio of skype beta for osx.

PR 1.3 global

Windows 7 64-bit
Skype 5.1.0.104

Skype on windows Flaky as hell. On n900 I can see video from my laptop webcam and n900 own webcam but on windows screen skype doesnīt show any video. Keeps loading. If I restart app and do click fest with app (call, disconnect, restart, call from n900 side, clickity click, restart) things might get working.

Funny thing is that Skype on windows says that it cannot connect to my webcam on laptop and still I see webcam on my n900 and just loading screen on windows. Yay! 4 minutes my life wasted. To whom I can send bill? Nokia and skype?

I think that version 5.0.0.152 worked flawlessly IIRC.

Pretty standard shait :| Looks like the newest skype on windows is breaking things.

.edit
Reinstalled 5.0.0.152 skype and now it works. Why Iīm not surprised...yawn.

..edit
Looks like that Iīm not the only one:

...edit
And now it doesnīt work. Looks like sometimes when I call from laptop with video call option N900 chooses to show regular call and sometimes that itīs video call. I think that I have to agree that this function is on n900 and on skype fundamentally broken at least on these experience what iīm here having. Best bet is probably to start video call from n900, but even saying that makes me laugh and shake my head. Welcome to world of "It kind of works". IMO 99% time working sofware is to normal users ~10% working shitty experience To enthusiastic itīs probably just little bump/scratch in perfect software :P

So to correct my statement it doesnīt work flawlessly from my experiences :| Time wasted.

....edit
And now skype on windows keeps on disconnecting when I start video. Superb

....edit
So after iterating problem I think the best way to do video call is to make video call FROM n900, answer it on desktop pc and AFTER answering it start video on desktop skype also. Oh dear...
