You will also get an unsuported device, with quite a few of OS annoyances... there's a thread here that talks a lot about the advantages and disadvantages of owning an N900 I strongly suggest you read that first before making a decision..I believe the thread that I am talking about was created by etoyo

I meant that as with laptop, you can configure router settings of your pc with laptop and use internet on laptop anywhere regardless of range of router. Its called 'wireless internet' I guess.

    So, Internet Connection Sharing ...

Where some device is acting as a router (and typically DHCP server, possibly caching DNS server), and has some other network connectivity to share.

You can have a PC/laptop with a WiFi card act as an access point (usually only in Ad-hoc mode, some combinations of OS/card/driver may allow master mode), but then you would need wired connectivity on the laptop, or two network interfaces.

If you get the PC/laptop side configured correctly, the N900 should be able to use anything possible.

But, you need to describe in more detail *exactly* what you want to do, and terms like "wireless internet" are not sufficiently exact ....

In short, I don't think what you have described so far is possible at all, with any combination of devices, but it may just be that you haven't described it well enough.

You can also look into USB-networking, where you connection share over the USB connection between N900 and computer.
It's slightly hard to setup properly, but can be used to get internet(/voip whatever) on your n900 from your laptop or desktop.
