I loved the Amiga, I loved the Dreamcast, and because of the N95 and now the N900, I love Nokia.
I just think I like companies and platforms with a self destructive streak.
Heh. Only kidding really, I'm well happy with my old N95 and the N900. I cant see myself with anything else in the forseeable future to be honest.
I would prefer to see Nokia come out with something I want. The N900 isn't what I wanted. I wanted a newer, faster upgrade to the N800 (Internet Tablets) line. Nokia was myopic enough to DROP that line instead of adding to it and maintaining a leading role in a product category they effectively OWNED for a time back in 2006-2008. An obvious and arrogant mistake from a company that preferred to float high and above the criticism--but one that I think many people here at the time were arguing already.
On the other hand, if you bought an N900 and you liked it... perhaps you can take the same advice we N800 owners were given: your device still works, doesn't it? Shut up and be happy with your "perfect" device. Support? SUPPORT YOURSELVES. *scraps from the table dropped occasionally, Nokia laughs evilly as it taps cigar ash on your heads*
I disagree, Commodore never had the market share in the computer market that Nokia have in the cellphone market, it would probably be closer to compare them to IBM, who were once a big player in the personal computer market and let it slip away from them, IBM also did lots of R&D (and still do) and so do Nokia.
I did love my Amiga though, shame the bad management at Commodore f'd it up.

An apt comparison! Thank you! I think the similarity, really, with Commodore Amiga is the aging and stubborn fanboi crowd that continues to argue that their platform is still relevant and superior while the rest of the world has moved on and progressed.
For the record, I still have my old Amiga. And my Atari ST and STe's. Hell, I still have a Commodore 64 and a Commodore 64C and an Atari 800XL, 130XE, 1200XL, Atari XE Game System, etc.. etc.
