I'm sorry if I offend anyone here, but the word "analyst" stimulates my gagging reflex. The most useless "profession".

Following this link, I don't get the feeling Symbian or Meego is going to be replaced with WP7...

"Stock up"? What is this, some investor forum? Yuck...
Why don't you understand and digest the news a little, before *****ing about it.

He said the stock went up due to this news, not telling us to 'stock up' on NOK.

    Sorry, corrected my post.

Still, don't you find it a little unnecessary to get excited every time the stock fluctuates a few percent? Nokia was up a few %, so were Cisco, Google, Dell, RIMM...

I think the post is on topic, because the decisions of what OS nokia will bank on in the future is not a purely technical matter. If you read these things, you'll keep abreast of the possibilities and won't get blindsided if an unexpected thing happen.

I read that as: People who have bet against Nokia/MeeGo are getting nervous weeks before MeeGo is due to be made public.

It's the dumbest idea ever and it will never happen. The drumbeat of desperation is getting louder.

Sure. I'm too much in awe of this book, so I tend to overreact:

Why is that an abomination again ? I thought it was a very good camera with a bigger sensor size to take good pictures with. So you talk about hardware making a progress, and then you say the camera is an abomination ? Why ? Couldnt get your logic.

Or are you only talking of hardware in the sense of how much high-specced chips and GPU's and memory and all that ?

The article is speculative and factually wrong on several points, not to mention the complete ignorance of underlying technical issues. He's not even an analyst with a tech background, but a BANK analyst. Just saying, BEFORE considering the merit of Win7 on Nokia devices at all.

I would expect a more even advancement in all hardware aspects. It's an excellent camera, but so is a 5MP one or an 8MP one -- you'll be able to convince few people that they are getting more from the 12MP.

Yes, I would expect also better CPU and GPU. More harmonious progress in all hardware aspects would allow for a more capable device overall. Make the following comparison: you don't go to the gym to only work on your biceps, right?

Finally, there is the price factor. Why is a device which is overall less capable than N900 still $80 more expensive? Maybe without the camera on steroids it would be a more affordable option.

Get your pint about a harmonious capability of all hardware aspects.

But neverthless I still think the N8 camera is pretty damn good.

Now on a smartphone you cant have a camera with interchangeable lenses or any such tricks , so apart from picture quality and fidelity, how else is the camera going to be differentiated result wise ? I mean even with a 20 MP camera its still wont be very noticible after some time - apart from very very large photo sizes which eat up your memory fast.
