A while ago I installed the modest mod by mohammadag. I would like to install the original modest package. When I try this:

sudo gainroot
apt-get update
apt-get --reinstall install modest

I get this error: "Package modest is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source. E: Package modest has no installation candidate. "

I tried downloading and installing "modest_3.4.8+0m5_armel.deb" but this didn't work either.

Could someone please help me with this problem?

<snip>?
I run into this same error message when attempting to install the CSSU from HAM. I manually installed the CSSU from xterm but would like to have HAM handle this. I am not a terminal fan if a process can be run from a GUI.

Just like I said. I allready downloaded the modest_3.4.8+m05_armel.deb package. I cannot install it through HAM. I did not try it with the xterminal, but I think it wil also not work. Maybe some other ideas?

If I remember right if you didn't pin the new version you can use HAM to "update" modest to it's original version.

Okay. I tried:

root
rm etc/apt/preferences

This gave me:

rm: cannot remove 'etc/apt/preferences' no such file or directory

So the package is not pinned. What the hell is wrong then?

The latest modest version is: 3.4.8+0m5. At least what I have found.
