Indeed. I take it that this only works for the back camera though?
I could probably implement the zoom feature into PhoneStreamer, but you would only see the results on the desktop, not on the phone.
Mostly because it would be extremely resource heavy for the phone to stream both to the remote PC and to show the live video at the same time.
As for the ssh features of phoneStreamer, what did you have in mind exactly?
It probably will work for the front camera but given the stunning IMAX-like quality (not!) of the front camera, who wants it? Enlarged pixel noise.....
I did this as an experiment and never thought of the n900 as a display medium. And as for the ssh stuff, that simply was the (easy) way I sent the instructions to the phone. You sir, are the dev. so the world is your oyster.... Issues would be, can one send instructions to the camera via gstreamer?
Easier said than done. Im working on it, but it's not a straightforward process.
Im currently using QtSDK1.0 which creates the deb packages for install but not the source files for the repos, because when I tried QtSDK1.1beta (which apparently can build src files easily) it refused to make deb packages which are - oh I dont know - also needed!
So when QtLabs gets their **** together, it'll be on the repos.
I suppose I could write a ncurses version of phonestreamer that you could control through ssh.....but no promises!

Understood. I might just wait a little longer for it to hit there. If I get some free time, I'll try it out before it gets there.
Couldn't find package...
i have extras testing and extras devel etc.
Can i download the deb and to my N900 and install from there?
Or basicaly where can I download expect
You will need to install all three armel debs (I think, at least I have all 3 on my phone), but Im not sure which order you need to install them in... so you might have to play around with that
