This has been happening for about a week so it is not related to the CSSU updates as far as I know. I noticed it first in Calendar - I would open calendar and be looking at the entries and after 8 seconds it was like I had pressed Ctrl-Backspace as the app would lose focus and drop to the task selection / app-switcher screen.

At first I thought I was inadvertently touching the screen but I have launched things and had it happen even when I am not touching the N900 at all. Today it has started happening in other places, even when scrolling through the applications list or browsing a webpage. It doesn't happen everytime though, I cannot replicate it on demand - it is just random but becoming more frequent.

Is this a software bug anyone is aware of, or is it more likely to be a hardware/ touchscreen problem - I am wondering if I am getting random presses registering in the top-left corner?

I have the same problem, which for me started with PR 1.3. See my thread at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65452

Hmm, I don't think it's PR1.3 as I've been running that for months and this has only started very recently. I'm suspecting a hardware glitch. I will recalibrate the screen and see if it helps.

Did you install anything from extras-testing or extras-devel recently?

Nothing I can think of. I have very little installed on the N900. I've installed the overclocking app and CSSU at the beginning of February but they ran without a hitch for at least 2-3 weeks before this started.
I have even reclocked back to stock levels but still get this...

It's possible in my case that the timing was just coincidental with PR1.3. I suppose I could try flashing back to an older version and see if it still happens, but don't fancy it.

For me, it seems to particularly happen when I unlock the device with the side switch, switch to an app, or open a new app, then happens a few seconds later. It very rarely (possibly never) happens at any other time.

Can you install sysklogd, I would like to know
if there are any error messages when this happens again.

I installed sysklogd and waited until the problem happened again. When it did I quickly looked in /var/log/syslog while as root, but unfortunately there was nothing relevant in there, only entries about sliding the keyboard open and shut. Are there any other files you would like me to check, or any configuration that needs to be done on ksyslogd?

Having said in my last post that it very rarely happens at any time other than a few seconds after unlocking the device, actually just it happened while I was been watching a video in mplayer (launched from sib). I had been watching the video for several minutes with no problems, then switched to multitasking and opened a Notes document, and a few seconds after that, everything minimized. During all this time, the video was still playing.

I'm wondering if the trigger is when the CPU load gets high, or when a lot of swapping is taking place, or something like that...

I was just asking because I see many warnings in syslog when
using the notes application:
Mar 22 21:49:41 Nokia-N900 sapwood-server[1055]: GLIB WARNING ** sapwood-server - Invalid borders specified for theme pixmap: wmDialog.png, borders are set for gradients
Mar 22 21:49:41 Nokia-N900 osso_notes[2092]: GLIB CRITICAL ** Gtk - gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
Mar 22 21:50:00 Nokia-N900 last message repeated 2 times
Mar 22 21:50:10 Nokia-N900 osso_notes[2092]: GLIB DEBUG default - comapp_system_deinit
But I have another use case where the autominize occurse,
reproducable:
- open the camera application
- change preview mode to "2 sec" (this happens even with 6 sec preview mode, maybe others as well)
- shoot a photo
- in the preview window tap the image-viewer button (lower right corner)
- wait until the image viewer is up and the image is shown
- go to the taskview
- tap the camera application (which shows the standby image)
- wait until the camera is online again
- repeat the steps:
- shoot another photo
- in the preview window tap the image-viewer button again
- wait until the image is visible
- go to taskview
- open the camera and wait

for me, after 5-6 seconds the camera autominize itself, always.
