Ah yes, mine is like that. I wonder if that's relevant.

For me, the problem does seem to be associated with Notes. I have it running almost all the time (as I do File Manager, which I use as a kind of launcher for different files to open in Notes). Usually the minimizing happens when Notes is the top-most app. Very rarely, another app minimizes, but that is a few seconds after previously using Notes then switching to the other app. That is, in the latter case, I sometimes get the impression that something in Notes caused the minimize, even though I had just switched to another app.

I'll try running Notes from a Terminal and seeing if there is any noticeable output if/when it next auto-minimizes.

Notes has auto-minimised a few times, but unfortunately nothing obvious in the stdout output in Terminal that seems to correspond to this :-(

I found another reproducible use case:
- open filemanager and go to a folder with at least two images
- select one image and wait until the image view shows this image
- go to the task view
- select filemanager again
- select the other image
- wait until the imageviewer shows this image
- switch to another app and wait

after 5-10 seconds the app auto-minimized

This could be totally off, but I experienced this issue shortly after installing MyContacts from extras-testing. I would get strange, seemingly random windows minimizing all the time. I then removed MyContacts and I was back to normal.

I just did this and things did just as you describe, but only for the first time. The second time, nothing minimized. So, it doesn't seem to be completely reproducible.

For me, it happens always. I can even
omit the last step, then the image viewer
autominimized, and go to the file manager,
open another image,
wait some seconds and the image viewer
autominimized again...
I have repeated this 5 times.

I can't recall ever having the issue, but having followed the steps in post #13, the task switcher is called up.

It's certainly reproducible sometimes for me, even if not quite always.

I'm now wondering if File Manager is the culprit. Previously I thought it was Notes. As mentioned before, I almost always have both File Manager and Notes running all the time, and use File Manager to launch new files in Notes. Often within a few seconds of the file opening in Notes, the apps will auto-minimise.

I will try for a few days to have Notes running but not File Manager (I'll use Open in the Notes menu to open files rather than use File Manager), and see if things still auto-minimise for me.

I just tried the same steps in Filebox (the file manager I always use) and the bug is reproduced. What could cause it? Is it image viewer?

Edit: To answer my own question, it can't be cos it can manifest with other programs. Hmmm

same thing happened to me when I try to watch a movie on N900, it was minimizing the player and wasn't resumable after that. Problem was enhanced kernel. Using stock kernel and I'm OK now, did you try it with stock kernel?
