hi, is it possible to stay only on 3g and/or wifi connected?

but its important that on 2g the connection stays off

thats because when i'm on 2g online simply nobody is able to dial and connect with me, it happend alot of time recently that my partners have complained zhey cannot make a phone call to my device and i was not available

apt-get install 3g2g-mode-selection-applet
Applet appears in your statusarea menu allowing you to switch from dual (2G & 3G) to either GSM (2G) or 3G only. Don't know about the WiFi though bro...

i already have the mode selection applet installed, that is not the point

what i am meaning is that when i am at 2g, i dont want my phone to autoconnect online

but, if the connection changes to 3g, it should automatically autoconnect



manually checking every minute if i have 3g or 2g and then connect or disconnect my device from the web is not an option

and i cannot set the phone to only 3g, because there are areas where i have no signal on 3g, but on 2g, thats the point

Or, alternatively, go Settings > Internet Connections > Connect Automatically "Always Ask".

This way, it won't auto-connect to any tether, instead, when you open an application that goes online it will ask you what tether you wish to use. This is how mine is set up.

autodisconnect would not work because:

- when i am on 2g and my device is checking emails then it establishes an connection
- if someone will try to call me right now or in the next minute, they cannot because i am still connected and the app autodisconnect has not disconnected fast enough

- the best solution here is, NEVER online on 2.5g and lower. ONLY if i manually chose to connect

the problem with "Always ask" is, i want to be "If Possible" always online, and "If NOT Possible" (in my case) on 2g to always stay offline. And all this automatically

can this really not be done with a timer script that checks if a mode switch event has occured (and is on 3g or near known wifi) and than can set my internet connection settings to on? And vice versa ?
