It performed well, although I see no reason why it wouldn't work pretty well with a telescope.

In southern Finland, we had a complete cloud-cover. I was on standby with my tripod, EOS 20D, 300mm + 2x teleconverter. That's 960mm (1.6x sensor crop)... :'<

Didn't really consider using my N900, since my current objective is to outdo the photo I took in 2005 without the teleconverter.

At the time I took the shots, the moon was still pretty low and near the tree line, so the brightness of the moon occluded most nearby stars. Also, the wind was starting to pick up, and I don't think I would've been able to steady the phone on the view finder well enough to get stars without getting a blurry "action shot" .

Wow, that's a fantastic shot!

I'm not much of a photographer (only my n900 and an older 4mp Konica-Minolta point-and-shoot), but inspiration struck, so...

yeah...I also got few, In London was clear sky me+ 200zoom +2 2x teleconventors + crop factor= 1200 total....but pictures are still in camera :P

Also in London, I tried to capture through an old 700mm, but my hand kept shaking...

It's amazing how versatile a camera phone can be these days did you use the default camera program or FCamera? It's pretty easy to keep the phone stable enough for night shots, just think like a sniper.
