    take a vga video at 1mbps and open it with maemo's open media player
    and watch cpu usage and shuttering , now take same video and open it on nitdroid with a video player and see the differences , some unplayable videos in maemo run smooth on android , same gpu , cpu , ram , only codecs

    It wouldn't collide with my current need to keep the stock MP, because I'm on testing, so it's alright with me, if that's what you're asking.

    It is not tracked, as it is one level above the source directory. Please check if this branch is what you need: https://gitorious.org/qt-mediaplayer...ith-debian-dir. I'll merge it into master if so.

    Would you provide an example video, as "1 MB/s VGA" means almost nothing

    But, in general, most of the videos should be HW accelerated through DSP. IIRC MPEG1 is not, but it doesn't really matter much as AFAIK this compression is outdated since long ago. Given your setup is not broken . And the only videos that stutter are 720p H264 medium and high profile (with harmattan codecs ofc) and above. For stock codecs if the video is playable at all it does not stutter.

    Ok, thanks. I will reuse your debian dir, but I will modify it for CSSU (as OMP will be replacement for stock player).

    @gidzzz
    There is some startup problem with newest version. It takes long time to start OMP after each N900 reboot: player is completely locked until number (count) of each file types appears (music, movies, internet radio). In stock player it`s instant, in older versions of OMP too but in the newest one it can take some seconds and I have a very small number of multimedia files on my phone.
    Each consecutive OMP start is fine until next N900 reboot.

    And this problem also cause that all application which doing *synchronious* communication with OMP via DBus are frozen too. (media player status menu applet lock hildon status area).

    Maybe this is problem with MAFW? OMP synchroniously waiting until MAFW start and initialiize?

    I will look at OMP code, if there are some blocking non async dbus calls.

    @gidzzz:

    Here is simple patch which change default dbus parm QDBus::Block to QDBus::BlockWithGui for non-async dbus calls. QDBus::BlockWithGui cause that qt will start new QEventLoop when application waiting for responce from dbus.
