can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to install it and how to uninstall it after installing it. ( i dont want to replace the stock media player) would be very happy if someone could give their precious time to help me
Its mention earlyer in the thread how to install.
And its not a good idea to replace tha stock player since this is still alpha
After a long time of holding back, I have finally installed this yesterday (daring to do it :-) )...have to say there was no reason for me to hold back..It is just great...Absolutely brilliant..Thanks everyone for what you have given us...Keep up the good (in fact great) work guys...
its a thread of 39 pages. can u please point out the page.i read the first post bt wasnt much clear. thank you
There is also another reason to read throu the thread, you will get in to the bugs and stuff that have been disscussed throu the process since the initial release of OMP.
If you don know what you are installing you can endup with much trouble that might have been avoided if you had the knowlage of things that could go wrong.
Nothing that is not in Extras is safe to install if you dont know what your doing.
Anyway:
1. Place the archive somewhere on your N900.
2. Open the terminal and navigate to the directory where the archive resides (for example "cd /home/user/MyDocs" if you placed it in the main storage).
3. Extract the archive ("tar -xf omp_xxx.tar.gz").
4a. Navigate to the extracted directory ("cd omp_xxx") and run the installer as root ("sudo sh install_mediaplayer.sh --desktop-file").
4b. If it doesn't work (I'm not sure if sudo is configured out of the box), try "root", then "cd /home/user/MyDocs/omp_xxx", and finally "sh install_mediaplayer.sh --desktop-file".
5. Installer tries to start the player automatically, so you should hopefully see the result right away.
@gidzzz:
i have embedded album-art inside mp3 file... and it wont show.....
ACTUALLY, when i play the song, it shows me album-art for a fraction of a second, and than it just show default art for media player :/
about the responsiveness of slider: is it possible that it is because a way it is program executed maybe (e.g. not installed, just run via ssh command)???

That's because both MafwRenderer and MafwSource are sending different album arts for some reason (one's sending the correct one, the other's sending an empty one), the stock player only sets only one of the set album arts.
